Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 August 2026
This privacy policy describes how the Alimeo mobile application ("the app", "we") collects, uses and protects your information. We care deeply about your privacy and are committed to collecting only what is strictly necessary for the app to work.
In short: Alimeo is built to respect your privacy. Your food and progress stay on your device and, if you create an account, are synced securely. We never sell your data and show no advertising. No food name or email address is sent to our analytics tools.
1. Data controller
The Alimeo app is published by an independent developer. For any question about your personal data, you can contact us at: contact@maximepochet.fr.
2. Data we collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may process:
- Account data — when you create an account: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, basic Google profile information (email address, identifier). Passwords are never stored in plain text.
- Your food and inventory — the products you add, their expiry dates, quantities and storage locations.
- Household data — if you join or create a shared household: household membership and related invitations. Members of the same household share the food list.
- Progress (gamification) — streaks, XP points, badges and anti-waste statistics.
- Preferences — your notification settings and other app settings.
- Analytics (optional) — with your consent, anonymised usage data (screens viewed, number of items added) to improve the app. No food name or email address is sent to this tool.
3. Device permissions
- Camera — used only to scan the barcodes of your food and invitation QR codes. No image is stored or transmitted.
- Notifications — used to alert you before your food's expiry date. They are scheduled locally on your device and can be disabled at any time.
4. How we use your data
- Provide the food tracking and management features.
- Send you reminders before expiry, based on your preferences.
- Enable inventory sharing within a household.
- Sync your data across your devices if you have an account.
- Improve the app (only if you opted in to analytics).
We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for advertising purposes.
5. Offline use and local storage
Alimeo works offline first: your food and progress are stored on your device first. If you have an account, this data is mirrored securely to the cloud to enable synchronisation and household sharing.
6. Service providers and data sharing
To operate, the app relies on third-party providers acting as processors:
- Supabase — database hosting, authentication and secure cloud synchronisation.
- PostHog — analytics, only if you consent.
- Open Food Facts — open database used to retrieve product information from a barcode.
- Apple / Google — app distribution and, where applicable, Google sign-in.
We do not share your data with any other third party, except where legally required.
7. Data retention
Your data is kept as long as your account is active. You can delete your local data at any time, or fully delete your account from the app settings. This action is irreversible and permanently erases your data (food, progress, settings, household) from the cloud and the device.
8. Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, port and object to the processing of your data. You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app, or contact us at contact@maximepochet.fr. You can also withdraw your consent to analytics at any time in the settings.
9. Security
We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data, including encryption of transfers and strict server-side access control (row-level security). As no system is infallible, we cannot however guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
Alimeo is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data about them.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy. In the event of a significant change, we will inform you through the app or this page. The last updated date appears at the top of this document.
12. Contact
For any question about this policy or your personal data: contact@maximepochet.fr.
